John Harker,

John D. Harker,
President and founder of Newport-West Data Services,
Incorporated, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance
from San Jose State University and completed graduate work
at the University of California, Berkeley. As the Financial
Analyst in a manufacturing control group at Xerox
Corporation, Mr. Harker participated in both long and short
range planning, financial performance evaluation, budget
generation, analysis and control. Mr. Harker co-founded
Real-Time Associates, and there developed an on-line
interactive manufacturing system, as well as other
commercial applications for the service, real estate and
insurance industries. Real-Time Associates offered
time-sharing services as well as consulting and contract
programming.
In 1979 Mr. Harker founded Newport-West Data Services to
develop commercial applications software and market turnkey
minicomputer systems. Since its inception, Newport-West has
evolved into a full service systems house offering custom
software development, systems sales, consulting and contract
programming.
Newport-West Data Services’ first product targeted to the
needs of the Intermodal industry, the Depot Management
System (DMS)™, was released in 1981. Today, in addition to
DMS, Newport-West produces Digital Intermodal™, a product
family including Intermodal Trucking Management, Rail
Management, Parts Inventory Management, and Digital
Intermodal Web, an exciting web-based interactive portal for
the intermodal industry.
Mr. Harker's strengths include business management and an in
depth understanding of financial systems and the intermodal
industry coupled with years of experience in systems design
and interpreting customer requirements for information
processing. |
